Baking tip: When rolling dough for cutout cookies, roll from the center outwards, giving the dough a quarter-turn on the floured surface with each stroke of the pin. This will produce a more tender cookie than rolling back and forth over the dough.

Coax those 7th and 8th graders you know into the kitchen to help prepare foods for family gatherings. And while you are at it, encourage those kids to experiment with healthy recipe variations so they can enter the Stirring Up Health Middle School Recipe Contest!

Healthy Kids Challenge and featured sponsor, Del Monte, along with educational partners, Johnson & Wales University and Home Baking Association, are excited about the 9th annual recipe contest "Stirring Up Health".

The recipe contest provides a fun way for 7th and 8th grade students to relate to food, health, and basic cooking skills. Engage the kids you know to create or modify a recipe to make it healthier using Del Monte fruits, vegetables, or tomatoes.
